Hi and welcome to your Getting Started with Your Business eCard page for your BME eCard Marketing System.
When you have received your eCard link, one of the first things that you will need to do is download it to all of your mobile devices (Phone, Tablet, Computer). To do this, you will need to click on the link that has been sent to you and have your eCard uploaded onto your mobile device. Once there you need to save the eCard to your home screen.
To do this on your iPhone or Samsung please click on the circled area of your phone (this may be different on some Samsung phones and other phone brands).
If you have trouble downloading your business eCard to the front/home screen of your phone, go to Google and type in something like – “How do I save to the home screen of my…. (Here you will have to identify your phone model)”.
When you click on these buttons on your respective phones, you will see a menu pop-up and there you will see another menu button to help you save your eCard to your device… when you have found it, press it and your eCard will be saved to your home screen.
Once this is done, go to your home screen and find your eCard icon. This will look very different on different phones.
On iPhones you will see an icon that will have part of the picture of your business card, on Samsung’s you will need to scroll around your multiple screens to find your icon, as Samsung unfortunately places it wherever it chooses to. Here is an important point, on your Samsung phone your icon will look very different to what it might on an iPhone.
On some Samsung phones your icon will be square and there will be a star in the middle of it. The colour of the square and the colour of the star may vary, but generally it is a red square with a yellow star. On some Samsung models the square will be grey and look like it’s just greyed out…
…you may struggle to find it, but I can assure you it is there, you just need to look for it.
Once you find your eCard icon, press it and you will find your eCard opening on your device. Now to the fun stuff, entering your information into your eCard and personalise it for your use.
Once you have done this, a new page will open up.
Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you will see a link button called ‘MANAGE’. Click on this button and a new page will open up.
On this page you will need to enter your four digit pin number to access the management area (please see the e-mail that was sent to you for your four digit pin).
This management area are the data pages where you will need to enter all the relevant details in the fields provided. Everything that you enter here will see by anyone who opens your eCard, then presses the icon on the front page of your Business eCard.
But before you do that we have a little bit of housekeeping to do.
Before you go into the management area please go to the bottom of the page and on the far right hand side there is an icon that says Register.
Please press that icon and the next window that will open up is your registration area.
Please enter your mobile number, your e-mail address and select the business or industry category that you’re involved in. The reason you need to do this is that everyone who registers their BME eCard can then be notified of any new toolkits that have been developed and purchased by their affiliate referee (more on this later).
Also as you will notice, when you go to the management area there is a button that says Registration Area, when you click on this, the next window that opens will show you a list of all the registered contacts and customers that are using your eCard and have registered for updates. This is a very powerful tool for you to utilise as you develop your business, but more on that later as well.
Now back to the management area.
In this management area you will be able to change your templates, change the colours of your fonts and background, also from the menu box at the bottom of this page, you can enter into other areas which allow you to edit all the templates that you have attached to your eCard. Let’s click the ‘Edit eCard Info’ button now…
In this area there are three primary screens where you will need to fill out your information. The first one is the info screen shown here.
This screen is where you enter your basic details, such as your phone number and e-mail address, website etc…
When you click on the shipping tab at the top of the screen, you will need to enter your street address to your premises, and under the billing tab, this is where you enter your postal address.
(REMEMBER – when you enter new data or change anything on a screen, please SAVE it before you move on to the next screen otherwise you will lose all your work and you will need to go back and do it again).
Once all this information is completed, save and then hit the “Go Back” key. This will take you back to the management area where you will need to move to the next section. Photos and Logos are the next area we are going to visit as these are the face of your business and certainly the face of your business eCard. So please click on edit logo and photo area now.
Your photos and logos need to be optimised for use in your business eCard. When you open the page you will notice it says that your picture should be no more than .9 of a megabyte, we have found that around about 500 kB (.5 of a megabyte), is the optimum and allows a photo or logo to look good and be a fair size on any mobile device.
Go to the ‘Choose File’ button which will allow you to find a photo that you can upload, usually you will find these in your picture gallery.
If you don’t have a photo or logo there you will need to create one. Once you’ve done that click on the “Update Photo” button and wait to your photo to upload.
You’ll also notice that you have two text areas above and below your photo, these are areas that allow you to put a heading or a headline on your eCard to promote your business. It is always a good marketing idea to create something that will allow people to come back to your eCard and for you to be remembered.
These headlines and descriptions will show on the front of your business eCard, so if you are changing templates between your photo or logo, then it is a good idea to play around with the headlines and text to create a different feel and promote a different message.
Once you have done this for your photo, repeat this for your business logo.
When you have uploaded both your photo and your logo, please press save and then hit the “Go Back” button, this will take you back to the management area.
Video has become a very powerful marketing tool and if you don’t have one at this stage we would seriously recommend that you look at getting one created to promote your business. Your eCard allows you to embed a video which people can access using various buttons on different screens. This is a great way to promote your business and to be really remembered by people who could possibly use your product or service.
Having the ability to show a video on your business eCard is a very powerful marketing tool and one that should never be discounted.
Now let’s go and click on the ‘Edit Video’ button.
When the video editing page opens you will notice that the instructions are quite explicit. You have an area where you can create a heading as well as a description for your video. Like your photo and logo these will show above and below your video when it’s displayed on your customer’s screens.
The rest of the instructions are about cutting and pasting the right section of the link from your YouTube account. If you follow these instructions you will have your business video embedded into your eCard.
To find the right link you need to open your YouTube account and then go to your ‘videos’ area. Select the video you would like to have displayed, go to the ‘Share’ button and click on that. Once this area opens up, click on the ‘Embed’ button, here you will find the complete embedded link that YouTube generates. Follow the instructions in your management area and you will be able to select, then cut-and-paste the appropriate section of this link to put into your business eCard.

Social media has become a big part of our lives and if businesses don’t embrace it, intelligently, then we miss out on huge opportunities in growing our businesses. The great thing about your BME business eCard, is that if you are connected to social media then your customers and prospects can connect to you through your new business eCard.
All you simply have to do is to cut-and-paste your profile link into the relevant areas. At the moment we only have six social media links available but more are on the way. You are presently able to connect with your Facebook, Twitter LinkedIn, Pinterest, Tumblr and also Google+ accounts. If you only have connections with two or three, that is fine. What you will notice is that if you have all six linked, then all six of your social media icons show on your business eCard. If you only have four linked you will only have four of the social media icons.
There is only one thing you need to remember… when you go to your social media profile’s and get the link, they are all prefixed with https://…
When you cut-and-paste the links into your business eCard, you will need to remove the “s” manually so that the beginning of each URL is http://
As they say in the classics… Simples (said with heavy Russian meerkat voice).
And now to complete your set up.
After you’ve saved all your updates and have gone back to the management area directory, you will notice there is one last fun thing to do.
We have a range of colour pallettes and you now have the ability to change the look and feel, colour wise, of your business eCard… have fun playing with this area as you will be able to update your eCard any time you choose.
And finally all you need to do now is to select which of the many templates… photo, logo, video etc., you would like to have showing on your business eCard first.
Which by the way you can change at any time. You would have also noticed that there are a number of other templates in the management area directory and we will touch on these at a later stage.
Right now… you have just completed the setting up of your business eCard… You are now ready to use, share and distribute this card to others.
